3 Gun Nation Southwest Regional

In March, 3 Gun Nation hosted their South West Regional match at Copperhead Creek Range in Marble Falls, TX. This was my first time shooting in a 3 Gun Nation match as well as at this range. The match consisted of 8 stages over 2 rainy days. The field included 3GN Pro and Semi Pro competitors and I was able to squad with a few of them. This enabled me to watch and learn from some of the best in this sport. The facility was awesome and I will return when they hold another major match. 3GN did an excellent job hosting this match and I will try to enter into two Regionals next year!

Double Tap Ranch- 3 Gun Nation Classifier

This month I attended my first match at Double Tap Ranch in Wichita Falls, Tx. This shooting club is also a 3 Gun Nation Club Member and hosts a classifier stage every match. To check out how the classifier works, check out www.3gunnation.com. This was my first match to use my new Stoeger M3000 and was trying out some different shotgun shell loads. On Stage 1 I found out quickly which load it liked best (that is why I had to rack it once). Stage 2 was the 3GN classifier stage "Crash and Burn". I started out on fire, flying through the stage, until the mandatory rifle mag change. For an unknown reason, the PMAG would not stay in the magwell. Same thing happened half way through stage 3 and then ended with a double feed. On stage 4 I used a spare Troy mag I had in my bag and didn't have any further problems. The day ended with a nice walk through the woods using the Stoeger M3000 to take down steel plates. I absolutely love my new shotgun and am focusing on the 3GN Regional Match coming up in March.

Proactive Defense 2 Gun Match

This winter has not been cooperative with my shooting schedule. Since most matches were canceled because of weather, by the end of January, I was itching to find a match to shoot in. Through an internet search and some friends on Facebook, I came across a monthly 2 gun match held at Proactive Defense in Northlake, Tx (close to Texas Motor Speedway). 3 guns is better than 2, but at this point I just wanted some time behind a trigger. Throughout the winter months I have been training indoors with dry fire and reloading drills, so I was interested to see my improvements. In the video I was only able to capture 2 of the 4 stages, but I shot well on all of them. I won the first stage and finished second at the end of the match. Although I felt like I was shooting well all day, and had some of the lower times in my squad, the second place result really surprised me. This match proved that my indoor training is paying off and has pushed me to train harder and more often.

2015 Sponsors

I am excited to announce my sponsors for this upcoming year! These great companies produce amazing products that I love using and assist me on my pursuit to becoming a pro competitor.

Grizzly Targets-

The highest quality steel target manufacturer in America. All the targets are handmade out of AR500 steel in Florida by hard working Americans! Check out their website (www.GrizzlyTargets.com) and upgrade your shooting experience to an entirely different level.

ESS Eye Pro-

ESS makes the toughest eyewear in the world for military, law enforcement, fire/rescue and shooting sport markets. The entire line of ESS ballistic-grade eye pro is engineered to meet or exceed the most stringent U.S. Military and ANSI Z87.1-2010 specifications. I currently use their Suppressor frames and love the way they fit under my earphones. Check out the testimonials on their website; pretty amazing.

Fort Mill Munitions-

FMM provides high quality match grade pistol ammunition manufactured in the USA. This ammo is reliable, accurate, and they offer many options. For competitions I shoot their low recoil 147 gr 9mm rounds. This round allows for enough power to knock down steel targets but low recoil for faster followup shots.

Yeti Coolers-

I never go to the range or a competition without my Tundra 35 in the back of my truck. This cooler truly works and retains ice longer than any other I have owned.

Head over to their websites and check out their products for yourself.

Special thanks to all these companies.
